Rolling Three Month Revenue Tracker For Clinics

Many clinic owners I know drift along in their business.  They know their income and they know the business is ok.

The business is ok and not sufficiently bad that they need to start being all “businessy” about it to make it better.

There are so many tracking metrics and for most people, it’s overwhelming and unrealistic to expect them to track everything.

If you don’t track numbers, but you think you would like your numbers (your pay) to be higher than where it is, you can start the process with a simple three month average.

I have the most basic spreadsheet which I can send you or you make one.

In it, you have months, each month you enter the top line revenue figure against the month.

The line below gives a formula for the average revenue of the past three months.  That evens out you or people on holiday, events etc which cause peaks and troughs.

Thus you can see the trend of your revenue.

If you get this far, it isn’t a big step to add your take home pay.

Example:

Month 1: £30,000

Month 2: £28,000

Month 3: £34,000

Rolling average: £30,666

Why the three month average.

If your patient has never exercised, do you tell them to start exercising five times a week?  It won’t happen.

There are many things professional clinic owners track.  But if someone isn’t used to it, then the trick is to start.  Hence this most basic starting point.

If your trend is up, then you probably already plan and have actions laid out to keep the business moving forward ie not stagnating, or worse, declining.

Same thing for your income.

You may look at your monthly revenue (passively), but do you track it actively.

Your patient software will give you numbers, but keep an eye on the three month average and you will see the trend for your clinic.

If you track, you’ll think more about planning and executing the plan with action.

And if you want to really get into the bones of your business and aren’t sure how best to go about it, get a clinic business coach.  Or, just a business coach.

Someone to hold you accountable and then to guide you.  If they are any good, they work with other clinics and through experience know what works.

I put the spreadsheet download at the top. You can download it, add to it and make it pretty. But you get the idea.

Good luck.
